As Marvel fans eagerly anticipate the next phase of the superhero franchise, excitement is building over which villains we may see in upcoming films. With Phase 4 set to introduce new heroes to the cinematic universe, we’re also hoping that some of our favorite Marvel villains will return to the big screen. Here are the top villains we want to see in Marvel’s 2023 movies:
1. Doctor Doom: Perhaps the most anticipated villain of all is Doctor Doom, the ruler of Latveria and arch-nemesis of the Fantastic Four. While there have been several attempts to bring the character to the big screen before, none have truly done justice to the complexity and threat of the character. With Marvel now having access to the Fantastic Four franchise, fans are hopeful that the studio will finally give us the Doctor Doom we deserve.
2. Kingpin: Although Kingpin was introduced in the Netflix Daredevil series, there’s no reason the character can’t make the leap to the big screen. Vincent D’Onofrio’s portrayal of the powerful crime boss was a highlight of the series, and we can only imagine how he might match up against the likes of Spider-Man or the Punisher.
3. Galactus: Another villain associated with the Fantastic Four, Galactus is a cosmic force of nature who devours entire planets to sustain his own existence. While the character has appeared in previous Marvel films in minor roles, we’re hoping to see him take center stage as a major threat to our heroes.
4. Kang the Conqueror: As one of the Avengers’ most formidable foes, Kang the Conqueror has the power to manipulate time and wreak havoc on multiple timelines. With time travel becoming more prevalent in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), now seems like the perfect time for Kang to make his big-screen debut.
5. Norman Osborn: The mastermind behind the Sinister Six, Norman Osborn has long been a thorn in the side of Spider-Man. While the character has been portrayed on the big screen before, Marvel has the opportunity to give us a fresh take on the Green Goblin, perhaps setting the stage for a bigger storyline with the Sinister Six in the future.
As always, Marvel is sure to surprise us with new villains and challenges for our heroes to face. But these five fan favorites are ones we can’t wait to see back in action.
